Donald Heiliger (b. 1937) was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin. He served as a pilot in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was shot down on May 15, 1967 and was held as a prisoner of war for six years until his release on February 18, 1973. He has three children from his first marriage and was married during his time as a POW. His second marriage was to Cheryl Edwards in December 1973. He lives in Stoughton, Wisconsin and has been a member of the Wisconsin Board of Veterans Affairs fr...
